Environmentally Friendly

Miscanthus is a C4 plant. A crop of miscanthus stores 2-3 tonnes of carbon below the ground Biomass annually and increases by 0.25 - 0.50 tonnes per year by not ploughing. Soils contain circa 150t carbon per hectare and up to 10% of the carbon can be releeased each year following normal arable practices.
